Mr MckernaghanExcellent light and very compact for the helmet
Mr NicholSuper lights. Extremely well built. Best price around. Thank you Merlin.
Mr RyanI am a Hope fan! I have used their hubs for years, and now use their 20FIVE wheels as well. Ive also just had some new road wheels built with hope hubs. I have had two of their Hope Vision 1 lights for ages, and they have worked faultlessly and still do. However, technology has moved on, and the brightness of lights has changed in the last ten years, so I was in the market for a new front light. I ride a lot at night, riding after work in the summer and the winter. I have looked at loads of lights and narrowed it down to Hope and Exposure. The exposure lights were neat and contained the battery. Hope still use an external battery which some reviews said was old hat, until I realised that the Hope lights come with helmet mounts and a head torch harness. They are not simply a bike light and the external battery allows them to be so versatile! I run at night, complete in things like the OMM and also ride my bike at night and it was the R2s versatility that got me. On the bike the light hangs neatly on a beautiful metal bracket under the handlebars out of the way of my GPS. I run a 120mm stem and the battery straps neatly to the top of the stem (users of stems shorter than 120mm might struggle). It also comes with a 1m extension cable if you are using frame or top tube bags and want to store the battery in there. The R2 is 1000 measured lumens and it is more than enough for me (bearing in mind that the vision one was about 250). It lights up the whole lane and I find that when I descend im not slowing down any more because I couldnt see the road. It lasts about 1 hour on 1000, the automatically drops to 750ish. It reckons after another hour it drops to 450, but even on 3 hours rides Ive never got it to do that. This is a beautifully engineered light as you would expect from Hope that is versatile and is plenty bright enough for night riding on country lanes.
Nick BakerNice unit. Feels solid, good bracket, I mounted battery on top tube and it didn't budge. Colour coded switch is useful, as is charge indicator. I use these on the bars with a (fairly old) Exposure Joystick on the helmet. Gives a very strong white light, adequate for XC.
